Denise Krause:
Her Vision for Oregon
Oregon Families are Facing 5 Major Crises
Our country is at a breaking point. Donald Trump and the most unqualified cabinet in the history of our country have taken us to the edge of killing democracy. They've ignored the rule of law and caused chaos in peaceful places all over our beautiful nation. Trump has re-rigged the system for himself and the ultra-wealthy to gain power and control over more money and things that were once held as sacred and untouchable. Nearly every American is being left out, and worse, some are being locked up and killed. The campaign of greed and fear must be stopped, and I'll work in the State Senate to create more safeguards to protect Oregon families.
At the same time, Oregon families are facing major crises. If we don't act now, we'll lose generations of hard-won progress. We need a thriving Oregon, one that protects our progress and builds prosperity for all. I'm asking for your support and your vote to send me to Salem to tackle these critical issues head-on, and work with shareholders, stakeholders, and Oregon families to find real solutions that work for you.
Crisis 1: Access to Quality Healthcare & Behavioral Health Services
Many Oregon families struggle to get the healthcare they need because services are too far away, too expensive, or simply not available, especially for mental health, addiction support, and medical specialists. Not only does this take a toll on the human lives that are directly affected, but it also creates a healthcare system that leads to a lower quality of care for everyone, worse health outcomes, and higher costs for everyone. As your senator, I'll push for expanded access, more providers in rural areas, and affordable options to ensure everyone gets the help they deserve. I will be a strong champion for universal healthcare for all Oregon.
Crisis 2: A Shortage of Affordable Housing & Rising Homelessness
For several reasons, housing costs in Oregon have soared. Today, the average family can’t even afford their first home. Many working families cannot find a stable place to live, and homelessness keeps growing in our communities. When people don't have homes, or have homes they can barely afford, they face barriers to employment and education. As your senator, I'll fight for the RIGHT kind of housing development and support programs that help people experiencing homelessness get back on their feet, help working people afford housing, and build a secure future.
Crisis 3: Skyrocketing Costs of Living
Daily expenses like groceries, utilities, and childcare are skyrocketing, squeezing Oregon families and making it tough to make ends meet on regular wages and fixed incomes. Inflation and the rising costs of living erode savings, increase debt, and widen the gap between the ultrarich and everyone else. In Salem, I'll work for policies that control prices, boost wages, and provide tax relief to put more money back in your pockets.
Crisis 4: Growing Threats from Wildfires & Natural Disasters
Wildfires and natural disasters are now frequent and severe in Oregon. They threaten our homes, health, and beautiful environment with smoke, destruction, and recovery costs. Most communities in our area lack the resources to properly prepare or rebuild quickly. This leaves our families vulnerable year after year. And recently, many homeowners have had their insurance premiums jump up or have lost coverage altogether. I'll work to give home and property owners relief. At the same time, I’ll work to strengthen prevention efforts, improve emergency responses, and secure funding for resilient infrastructure to protect our state for generations to come.
Crisis 5: A Lack of Leadership
Oregon needs strong leaders who can bring people together, listen with compassion, respond appropriately, and work on multiple fronts at once. Even with a Democratic supermajority, the legislature has failed to address important issues like funding a transportation package. Too often we're stuck with gridlock and inaction, or just plain failing, on pressing issues. This lets problems fester, eroding trust and progress in our state. I'll bring fresh, collaborative leadership to Salem, focusing on community input and workable solutions to deliver real results for all Oregonians.
