Why I'm Running Now

What drives me to serve is simple. We can’t afford politics as usual, especially with what's coming out of Washington, threatening us and our way of life. Our democracy is crumbling, and we are all under threat. I stepped up because my heart told me this was the moment that we needed to rise to the occasion and do things differently — to bring new energy, ideas, and unwavering commitment to Salem — and I have the experience and the skills to push for real change that serves you.

I’m not in this for personal gain. I’m here to serve the resilient people of District 3, from Medford, Phoenix, Talent, Ashland, Greensprings, Ruch, and the Applegate Valley, who deserve a senator ready to collaborate, innovate, and deliver real results for Southern Oregon.

I’m Fighting for Fairness for All of Us

People just want to live comfortably and feel safe. I think about families who can’t afford to buy a home. I think about kids who need good and safe schools where they can learn and grow. It shouldn't matter if you live in Portland or in a small farming town, fairness means everyone has the same opportunities.

I've been listening to people for the last year as I've prepared my campaign. They've made one thing crystal clear. They feel like the system is rigged and are worried their children and grandchildren aren't going to get a fair shake.

In fact, I've felt the same thing with my own son, Alex. Even though he's had some advantages, I still worry that, despite him doing the right things, working hard at college, and giving it his best, he's still not going to have the opportunities we've dreamt of for our kids.

That's why I'm working hard to earn your vote. I'm ready to go to Salem and work with you to restore the American dream, keeping what's working and rebuilding what's not, while adapting to our changing times. Together, we'll find new ways to make life better for everyone. 

I'm committed to you, and I'll always put you and your family first. I will listen with respect and make a genuine effort to understand where you're coming from. And I'll work to find common ground.

I will fight hard. You're getting a fighter who doesn't take "no" for an answer. I'll work tirelessly to find solutions to the serious problems we face. When you vote for me, you're getting an expert in healthcare and preventive medicine, and also an advocate for affordable housing, controlling the high costs of living, access to quality education, and protecting our climate. My education, skills, experience, and determination will allow me to get more done, faster.

Your vote for me means it won't be business as usual. We've all seen what keeping the status quo does. And let me articulate that further: The status quo allows corporations to get away without paying their fair share, it lets people take advantage of the system, and it lulls us into complacency.
